The Canton of Aschehyrst is an official branch of the the
Society for Creative Anachronism.
The SCA is
an international nonprofit educational organization dedicated to
the study and recreation of the European High Middle Ages. The
SCA "period" is defined to be western civilization
before the year 1600 AD, although we usually welcome visitors
from other lands which traded or had contact
with Western Europe in that period.
We occupy the
westernmost portion
of the
Barony of Carolingia, in the
Kingdom of the East.
Some of the
things we do
are:
archery & fletching,
calligraphy & illumination,
cooking, heraldry,
woodworking,
metalworking,
period clothing,
stained glass,
leather working,
fencing,
armored combat (we use rattan weapons)
and many other medieval and renaissance
activities.
Newcomers are always welcome. If you are interested in learning more
about us,
when we meet, or want to find out
how to participate
in these "Current Middle Ages," don't hesitate to contact us.
